Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Title: Love & Gelato

Author: Jenna Evans Welch

Genre: Young Adult; Contemporary Fiction

There are plenty of tales about those who travel to some exotic and/or historic locale in order to find themselves. That is distinctly NOT on Lina's mind as she arrives in Italy, keeping a promise made to her mother. Instead, she is lost, trying to figure out how to finish her teenage years without her mother, and wondering why her mother never bothered to mention that the man she asked Lina to stay with in Italy after she was gone also just happened to be her father. But just because it wasn't Lina's goal, that doesn't mean that discovering who she is and where she belongs isn't going to happen anyway on this journey! Pick up the book and join the discovery - and if you enjoy this one, the author has similar books set in Ireland and Greece, as well!

The Cloisters by Katy Hays

Title: The Cloisters

Author: Katy Hays

GenreMystery; Dark Academia; Fiction

Art history graduate Ann Stillwell gets a coveted internship working at the Cloisters in Manhattan. There she conducts research on how some people from the Renaissance era may have tried to see the future using tarot cards. She becomes fast friends with her colleague and entangled with the museum's gardener. When she stumbles upon a secret that could mean a breakthrough in their research, she debates whether to share it with the curator she works for. Then someone is found dead. This is a gripping story sure to please fans of The Secret History, and it even spurred me to buy tarot cards.

Have you stopped to think what would happen if you paused to hold that door for the person entering behind you? What about what might have happened if you hadn't yelled at your sister the last time you talked to her? Would it change anything? Would it change everything?

This story is about a high school student whose entire life changes due to four minutes. She misses the plane that she had a ticket for to head to London for her father's wedding. Don't worry, she's able to get a seat on the next one! But that change in plans has quite the ripple effect, changing locations, times, and accompaniment for various parts of her weekend trip, and the young man that she happens to meet at the airport just might help her see the positive side to a trip that she has been actively trying to get out of!

Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky

Title: Imaginary Friend

Author: Stephen Chbosky

Genre: Horror

Single mother Kate Reese and her son Christopher move to Mill Grove to escape Kate's abusive husband. It seems like the perfect place to settle down and live their lives. Until Christopher vanishes in the woods. Six days later, he returns, with a strange voice in his head that tells him to build a treehouse in the woods before Christmas, or the town will never be the same.

By the same author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, this book is an incredible read. Well fleshed out in both plot and characters, it's a long read but it's absolutely worth it.

The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser

Title: The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street

Author: Karina Yan Glaser

Genre: Children's Fiction

The Vanderbeeker kids can't imagine living anywhere else than their beloved apartment. When they discover that their landlord has refused to renew their lease, which will force them to leave, they quickly decide that it is up to the five of them to show their landlord how important it is to them - and just what they are willing to do to ensure that they can stay!

I have truly loved this entire series so far (6 books at this point!), and each of the five kids have a wonderful, distinct personality that shines through all of the capers that they will face! They also seem so very endearing - and they gather an entire neighborhood around them, willing to be included in some of their plans as well!
