The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green

Title: The Anthropocene Reviewed
Author: John Green
GenreEssays; Short Stories

This book is a collection of essays in which John Green reviews different things and events that exist in the current geological age. Most chapters start with a short story explaining his connection to the topic being reviewed, and sometimes an explanation or history of that topic as well. It finishes with a rating for that topic from 1 to 5 stars. This is certainly a familiar format, but it is fun to hear things as varying as Kentucky Bluegrass, Monopoly, Super Mario Kart, and Staphylococcus Aureus all analyzed and reviewed!

Us by David Nicholls

Title: Us
Author: David Nicholls
GenreFiction; Romance; Coming of Age

By the author of movie and Netflix series, “One Day,” this relationships novel follows Douglas as he embarks on a 6 week Holiday with his wife and teenage son after his wife has asked for a divorce. He tries desperately to save his marriage by revisiting why they married in the first place. They are the epitome of opposites attract: she, an artist and he, a scientist. The novel explores relationships of long time partners, new partners, parent/child, and friendship. The reader will not fail to find a character mirrored back to them. Many laughs (and tears) are had in this adventure story of growth at many ages.

Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn

Title: Georgie, All Along
Author: Kate Clayborn
Genre: Romance

This is a great, fun, moving romance about the perils of growing up, moving home, and coming to understand yourself. I loved getting to know Georgie and Levi, and Kate Clayborn did a great job of making this feel so real. A great read introduction to Kate Clayborn and a truly excellent contemporary romance!

Amelia's mother, Kate, has raised her as a single mom. She hasn't been able to spend as much time with her as she would have liked, as she needed to continue her career as well, but she has always felt that they had a strong relationship. All of that is brought into question when she gets a phone call informing her that Amelia has been suspended from her exclusive school. By the time Kate arrives to pick up her daughter, a much more significant tragedy has occurred, and Kate discovers that her daughter has fallen from the roof, and died. Unable to believe that her daughter killed herself, Kate takes it upon herself to reconstruct the final days of Amelia's life, using her texts and social media posts as clues, seeking to understand what happened up on that school roof.
