In Every Generation by Kendare Blake

Title: In Every Generation
Author: Kendare Blake
Genre: YA; Fantasy; Vampires; Occult

As someone who grew up watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer this was a nostalgic read. It continues the story many years after the tv series ended. It picks up with Frankie, the child of Willow Rosenberg. The book mainly focuses on a new generation of "scoobies" but has plenty of cameos from the originals. The book was written very closely in the style of the show from pacing all the way to the dialogue. There were a couple misses for me as far as the plot but overall, I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading the next installment!

In Nightfall by Suzanne Young

Title: In Nightfall
Author: Suzanne Young
Genre: Young Adult; Supernatural

Theo and her brother Marco are trying to cope with a lot. Their mom has moved in with her boyfriend and his family, and there's not enough space for them in the house. Their father has decided to bring them with on his visit back to his hometown and his mother for the summer. Theo has never met her grandmother, and she doesn't know what to expect, but to say she is unhappy about spending the summer away from her friends and her everyday life is an understatement. Her grandmother's greeting as they arrive includes a warning to always be home before dark. As teens, Theo and Marco are quick to ignore this warning as being over-protective. But there is a group of girls that everyone seems to know in this small town, and who have a bit more power over the boys that are around them.

Compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Lost Boys, this story has enough secrets and scary monsters to keep you guessing all the way through. The real question, though, that no one in town seems to be asking - will Theo still have a chance to return home at the end of the summer?

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Title: Midnight Sun

Author: Stephenie Meyer

Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Romance

Stephanie Meyer (Twilight series) has pulled an E.L. James and reproduced her most popular story from the male point-of-view. In Midnight Sun, the meeting of Bella is told from Edward's perspective and thus fleshes out more of his history and feelings. It is long and doesn't have as many surprises if you're already familiar with their love story, but it does add enough new material that if you are a fan of these sun-crossed lovers then you will appreciate the added nuances to their complicated romance.
