In Broken (in the best possible way), Jenny Lawson again writes from a deeply personal place of battling mental illness and physical ailments. She alternates between irreverently hysterical moments and to-the-bone honesty. Generally this is done by chapter, so if you're in the mood for only one of these feelings, you can skip around the book.

She does occasionally talk about body parts in less-than-gentile ways so those with delicate sensibilities may want to steer clear. For those of you already acquainted with Jenny and her typical antics, you will not be disappointed: animals, spousal debates, taxidermy, and embarrassing moments abound. If you want her rapid-fire story telling, try the audiobook format.

Croquet, bees, past trauma, and a corgi named Newton all figure into the mix as Anthony tries to find his match.

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson

Title: The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration

Author: Isabel Wilkerson

This book is about the migration of African-Americans from the Jim Crow South to other areas of the United States. It primarily follows the paths of three people: Ida Mae Gladney - a Mississippi share cropper's wife, George Starling - a Florida picker , and Robert Foster - a doctor from Louisiana. It also documents many of the harsh conditions of the South and several of challenges facing those wishing to resettle in other states.

Isabel Wilkerson is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer who received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work - Debut Author for this book.

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld

Title: Eligible

Author: Curtis Sittenfeld

Genre: Adaptation, Romantic Comedy

This modern retelling of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice had me laughing out loud several times. In this version, writer Liz and yoga teacher Jane are nearing 40 and still haven't found marital bliss. But Chip Bingley, a bachelor famous for his stint on the reality show Eligible, and Fitzwilliam Darcy, a dashing though arrogant doctor, could tempt the eldest Bennet sisters into lasting relationships. Sittenfeld makes interesting choices for a contemporary feel, yet Austen fans will clearly recognize the classic novel's beloved characters. Milwaukeeans might also appreciate the Midwestern setting of Cincinnati. Recommended for a delightful escape!
